Moder—n is a cultural magazine with composition like an art books by showing large amount of visuals and editing like a vinyl record as splitting its contents to side-a & side-b. Also we put vinyl records as appendix of magazine which includes a music of contributing artists, so readers can enjoy not only reading but listening.
The first issue is under the theme of “utc+9” (far east time). The 7 documentary stories contained in this issue have all happened though the physical connection between people of different nationalities and perspectives coming together in the same geographical space and time.

モダーンは現代における多様なカルチャーを、大胆なビジュアル構成によるアートブックのような誌面作りと、アナログレコードのようにコンテンツを二面に分けた編集によって綴じられたカルチャー雑誌であり、付録として参加アーティストが手がけた音楽をアナログレコードという形で収録するなど、見るだけでなく聴くこともできる雑誌です。
創刊号では「utc+9（極東時間）」というタイトルのもと、ファッションからアートの分野で世界的に幅広く活躍するドイツ人写真家のJuergen Teller（ヨーガン・テラー）、アンダーグラウンド界に捻れた影響を与える写真家 塩田正幸の二人によるコラボレーション企画をメインに、前衛的な音楽を世の中に紹介し続けた伝説のレコードショップ「モダーン・ミュージック」、富士山のランドスケープ、イギリスのスケートブランドPALACEのスケーターであるDanny Brady（ダニー・ブラディー）の密着レポ、音響ロックバンドOGRE YOU ASSHOLE（オウガ・ユー・アスホール）の日比谷野音でのライブ記録、アメリカ人女性ペインターのKelly Beeman（ケリー・ビーマン）のポートレイトペイントなど、７つのドキュメンタリー企画で構成。付録としてOGRE YOU ASSHOLEのメンバー4人がアナログシンセで演奏した実験的な音楽のライブ音源をソノシートで収録。
